6th All India Inter School Powerpoint Presentation Contest

Contest Rules

 

  • Consent : A participating school gives me an ‘intention of participation’ in writing on the school letterhead confirming the date & time ideally suitable for holding the intra and inter school round of the contest in one's own school.

 

  • Contact persons : Schools are required to depute 1 – 3 individuals with whom I can co-ordinate matters related to the contest.

 

  • Clue sheets : Multiple numbers of posters (serving as clue sheets) and banners of supporting companies announcing the contest and the topics are put up at strategic locations in participating schools.

 

  • Participating number of teams (minimum requirement) : For the intra-school championship, each participating school across India will nominate a minimum of 25 teams (with no limit on the maximum number of teams) of 2 members each from each of the Class Groups  4 – 6      and      7 – 9   (as on July 2008).

 

  • Participants' identity : A participation form will have to be filled up by each participating team member.

 

  • Date and Venue : The intra-school & inter-school championship is held at the school premises. The dates for the intra-school & inter-school finals of “Power Point Presentation Competition” are decided by the school authorities. Schools are at liberty to carry out the intra and inter rounds of the contest at their premises spread over one or more days. However, the dates are communicated to me in advance.

 

  • Topics (Intra-School round) : For the intra-school round of “Powerplay Srs6”, details of the choice of multiple topics are communicated to the respective schools/ teams atleast 4 days prior to the event. The topics are also available for viewing in www.marketingpundit.com.

 

  • Topics (Inter-School round) : A choice of multiple topics, are given by me (after completion of the intra-school contest at school) for preparation for the inter-school finals of the contest. The choice of topics can be viewed in www.marketingpundit.com. Approx 5 – 6 days time is given to prepare for the inter-school final presentation.

 

  • Preparation : Students are allowed to bring hard copies of the contents and soft copies of pictures, animations, sound from elsewhere. The actual presentation is made at the school. Sound is not an important criterion.   

 

  • Number of slides (Intra-School) : For the intra-school round, each team makes a 1 + 8 slides (no more and no less) Power Point Presentation on the selected/ allotted topic in 2 hours time. The first slide mandatorily contains the personal details of both the participating team members.

 

  • Number of slides (Inter-School) : For the inter-school round, each team makes a 1 + 10 slides (no more and no less) Power Point Presentation on the allotted topic in 2 hours time. The first slide again contains the personal details of both the participating team members.

 

  • The 1st slide : Has to be in black & white with no clip arts and word arts. The entire slide is typed in Arial font in size 18. The slide layout has a horizontal bar on top and two vertical bars below. The horizontal bar contains the Topic, Group name, Date of Intra/ Inter School Contest, Name and Address of School. Each of the vertical bars contains the Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Residential Address, Phone num, Contact Mobile num, Father’s 1st name & profession, Mother’s 1st name & profession, Class & Section as on July 2008, Whether there’s a Computer at home or not for each of the two team members.

  • Winners : The intra-school winners, 4 teams of 2 members each from the class group 4 – 6 (as on July 2008)  AND   4 teams of 2 members each from the class group 7 – 9 (as on July 2008) are selected/ judged by the participating schools themselves. These 8 teams represent their respective schools in the inter-school finals by making a presentation on the allotted topic.

  • Judging criterion : Presentations exceeding 750 kb are liable to be disqualified. Sound effect is not an important criterion. The look, feel, off-beat content, creativity, extent of humour, following laid down instructions are the most important judging criterion.     

  • File and Folder naming: The presentation files are individually saved with an allotted team name. All Senior Team Members (classes 7 - 9 as on July 2008) from any school has 'S' as the prefix, while Junior Team Members (classes 4 - 6 as on July 2008) has 'J' as the prefix while allotting  their team names. For example, from any particular school the intra-school presentation S7.ppt is to be made by team S7. During the inter-school round, the file names change. If S7 ranks 2nd in the intra-school round from a particular school, the corresponding file name is S2nd-S7. The laid down instructions has to be followed carefully.

  • Retrieval of presentations: Participating schools need to make arrangements to provide me with all presentations of intra & inter-school participants in a CD (free of any computer virus). All such presentations eventually became the property of the organisers and are used in any way they feel.

  • Judges: The inter-school winners are judged by a distinguished panel nominated by the organisers of the contest. The decision of the judges are final and binding.

Specific Terms for participating schools outside Kolkata & suburbs:     

  • These schools need to send me atleast 10 digital pictures each of high resolution during the Intra as well as the Inter School phase of the contest (shot with a Digital Camera or Handycam or Mobile Phone) as evidence of the contest having been conducted at the school premises.
  • Participating schools are expected to despatch (through courier) ALL .ppt presentations + digital pictures of the contest in CDs + the relevant entry forms complete in all respect + the 'letter of consent' signed by the Principal/ Head or any authorised official/ faculty member, within 10 days of completion of the Intra School Contest and similarly within 10 days of completion of the Inter School Contest in one's own school.
